German publisher Gerhard Steidl is reported to have said that his favourite smell was that of a freshly printed book.
While this may seem a little bizarre, as most people would probably site aromas from food or flowers as their favourite smells, Steidl was able to convince a perfumer and a couture giant to humour him on this one, and together with the international design and style magazine Wallpaper, they made Paper Passion.

Wallpaper magazine has an annual Handmade issue, which showcases a selection of innovative and hugely impressive works of art that push boundaries and bring the fantasies of free-thinkers to life.
This year, following inspiration from a scene in How to Make a Book with Steidl, Handmade approached Steidl and asked him to work with avant garde perfumer Geza Schoen on a challenge to bottle the scent of a book that has just come off the presses. Steidl in turn recruited an old friend of his, Chanel creative director Karl Lagerfeld, to design the packaging and come up with a name.
It is available online at a price I can only dream of affording. For now, I’ll stick to popping a few mielie kernels and enjoying that delightful smell. One day, when I have the means and I have learned to stick my nose high enough in the air, I will have a perfume called SpringMielie made especially for me.

So is this fragrance meant to be used as a perfume or as an air freshener…?teehee You know a lot Sis.
