Quick Update

I’ve been home for 2 weeks now, and in that time I have:

  • Watched a whole lot of bad TV
  • Tried to get back into reading newspapers
  • Made, scratched, and re-worked fantasy holidays in my mind
  • Bought a hula hoop (I haven’t actually used it just yet)
  • Marvelled at the amazing first issue of Rolling Stone South Africa– I now have more of an idea of what exactly everyone has been going on about. I also realise that I still have a long way to go if anything is to come of my dream to one day be the chief features writer at a major publication
  • Set myself squarely on the path to Tweet-a-holism
  • That lead me to almost throwing my phone against a wall about 10 times a day- I’m now waiting faithfully for that Nokia N9 I want so badly to just fall into my lap.
  • Lamented my hopeless internet situation: this Vodacom data card thing is just not working for me. I want high-speed, super-affordable bandwidth, and I want it now!
  • Spent an inordinate amount of time on my nails. I’ve recently bought a bottle of green polish in a shade called “Adrenaline Junkie”. My particular adrenaline rush came from spending close to 30 minutes wandering around Clicks with two bottles of polish clenched in my fist, debating whether or not to buy one, or even both of them. I went all around the shop, went back to the cosmetics aisle, picked up another bottle, put it down. I changed my mind about the colour I wanted. I thought about whether or not I even wanted the polish at all. And the whole time I was thinking about how the shop assistants all probably thought I was crazy by the time I eventually decided which bottle to buy.
  • Set out a whole lot of books to read this holiday. They are currently gathering dust on my headboard.
  • Spent countless coffee and movie dates with my friends- in my mind. I’m just too damn lazy to actually call them up and leave the house. Next week, my cabin fever will kick in, and Sanity will scream at me: “I told you Procrastination would be our undoing- bad boys are never a good idea!”
  • Mastered the art of parallel parking. Yes. I was so happy to finally have it down! I was still wondering why my dad changed my instructor without even telling me about it, but now I’m thinking that doesn’t matter at all. Hold thumbs- I’m going for my test on Wednesday!

After Wednesday, hopefully, I’ll be free. Free to actually act on all the plans I’ve made. Starting with organising a trip to the coast. Preferably alone, because I know that if I stay with my family all holiday, I will go crazy.

Until Wednesday, then.

[If the internet co-operates, expect a mini review of The Help – the movie, a fashion post, and my opinion on Loocha and Rolling Stone South Africa]
